Installing
the PCChost 1100 onto a Windows NT 4.0 System
Before
the user attempts to install the PCChost 1100 into a Windows NT 4.0 system,
they should purchase a copy of CardWare 6.0 for Windows NT 4.0 CardWare
6.0 may be purchased from Unicore software at http://www.unicore.com/products/cardware/cardwarent.cfm.
- First, power off computer and then install PCChost 1100 controller
into an empty PCI slot. Jumpers JP2 and JP3 on the PCChost 1100 board
should both be installed. These jumpers allow the PCI-1131 chip to route
interrupts to IRQA and IRQB on the PCI bus. Install the ISA IRQ board
into a free ISA slot. Insure that the 10 pin cable is correctly routed
to the PCChost 1100. Both jumper on the ISA interrupt board should be
removed.
- After installing PCChost 1100 and powering up computer, access the
control panel by clicking on the "Start" button, and moving
up to "Settings" and choose "Control Panel."
- In the "Control Panel," double click the "Devices"
icon, and scroll down the list until you see "PCMCIA."
- Select this item, and click on the "Startup.." button while
it is highlighted.
- Choose "Automatic" for the startup type, and then click
"OK."
- Click on "Close" to close the window.
- Run the install program for Award’s CardWare 6.0 for Windows NT (Double
click on the "setup.exe" file)
- Click the "Next" button when you see the "Welcome"
screen.
- Click the "Next" button when you see the "Cardware
Setup" screen.
- Click the "Next" button when you see the "Cardware
Setup" screen.
- Click the "Next" button when it asks you where you want
to install Cardware.
- Change the selection for platform on the "Cardware NT 6.00"
screen. (It chooses the "Platform with PCIC compatible controller,"
while you should choose "TI PCI/CardBus controllers – Serialized/CW
Init," and also the "Express Setup (recommended)" options.
Click the "Next" button after choosing these two options.
- Setup should start copying over files at this point.
- Click on the "Finish" button, and your computer will be
restarted.
- Restart your computer and choose your hardware setup.
- Choose the "Award CardWare profile."
- Open up your "PC Card Control for Windows NT." (It is in
the taskbar on the lower right hand side of your computer screen. It
looks like a pcmcia card.)
- Go to the "Options" tab on for the card control.
- Click on the "Load Control" option.
- Go to the "SSPCIC.SYS" line, and change the "SER"
to "PAR" variables. (Note that there are two places where
you need to replace "SER" with "PAR".)
- Click "Ok" on the bottom of the screen.
- CardWare will ask you if you would like to continue with these changes.
Click "Yes."
- CardWare will ask you if you would like to reboot your computer. Click
"Yes."
This completes the installation of CardWare 6.0 for Windows NT.
